Gander Adds Another Mountain
Winchester Store to Celebrate Grand Opening

SAINT PAUL, Minn., Monday, October 31, 2006 – Gander Mountain, the nation’s largest retail network of stores for hunting, fishing, camping, marine and outdoor lifestyle products and services, is gearing up for the Grand Opening of its new store in Winchester. Gander will open the doors at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3rd, to welcome people into the new store.

Extreme bow-hunter Ray Howell will shoot an arrow through a ½-inch ribbon from about 30 yards to kick off the Grand Opening Celebration. And once that ribbon falls, Gander’s staff will blow a chorus of goose calls to welcome customers to the new store. Howell’s youth program, Kicking Bear, exposes underprivileged youth to archery and the outdoors.

Other notable personalities attending the celebration Saturday the 4th through Sunday the 5th include Mike Jackson, Little Morgan, and Bill Hesslegrave. Mike Jackson and Little Morgan, who are both Elite Gander Mountain Pro Staff Members, will be at the store on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th. Little Morgan has become the best-known competition dog in the United States. The enthusiastic 53-pound pointing lab is the only ESPN Great Outdoor Games two-time Gold Medalist in the long jump, with the record of 26 feet and 6 inches. Hesselgrave, a wild game processing and cutlery expert, will share his knowledge with customers at the store from 10am to 4pm on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th. He specializes in educating individuals about the proper care of the animals they harvest.

The Grand Opening Celebration promises fun for the entire family. With a 33-foot giant bass slide for the kids to slide down, an inflatable cabin for younger children to play in, and the opportunity for kids to build a duck call with the pro’s from Primos, there will be something for everyone at Gander Mountain on Grand Opening weekend. Giveaways include:

  • Free $10 gift card to the first 100 customers on Friday, November 3rd, Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th
  • Free Gander Mountain Hats to the first 250 customers on Friday, November 3rd
Free Gander Mountain T-Shirts for the first 250 customers on Saturday, November 4th
  • Free Gander Mountain Water Bottles for the first 250 customers on Sunday, November 5th
The new Gander Mountain in Winchester is located at 251 Commonwealth Ct, Winchester, VA, 22602. The store will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th and from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5th.
